The CHICKEN is Home!!
Yes, it's true! We thought that we would never see the Chicken again, but thanks to the efforts of our new best friend Bruce, the Chicken was returned to us and her stories are available for everyone to read! See that link over in the left column that says Playa Chicken? Can you guess what that is for?
Epilogue
We went to Burning Man for the seventh time. It was hot. We helped put together the village of Hushville, which held 200 people. We rolled around in the Motion Emotion Studio and snapped pictures of nearly 300 people, each being rewarded an exclusive PlayaChicken.com bandana for their efforts. We greeted. I wrote a daily column for the Gazette.  It was relatively dust-free. We saw a lot of old friends and made many new ones. We organized a run around the city that happened on three mornings. Did I mention that it was hot? Well, it was.

Every year upon our return, people ask "How was Burning Man" and I tend to spew a list of phrases similar to that preceding paragraph.  True statements, all, but they will always fail to convey the true sensation of what it's like to spend nine days out there.

Oh well, enough of that. You're here to see the pictures, aren't you? Inside you will find 342 images, which is about 100 less than last year. Why the decline? To be honest, I really don't know. Most of the pictures were taken in the Motion Emotion Studio and I really wasn't too inclined to use the camera at other times. As a result, the vast majority of what's in here are portraits and there's relatively little of things like fire-spewing art cars.

The Return of the Gizmos!
All your favorite PlayaChicken.com gizmos have returned for 2002, and they (hopefully) work better than ever. Some of the cool things you can do include:
  • Vote for your favorite image and see the results in the Top 10 section!
  • Send an eCard of a cool picture to that special someone!
  • Scribble a Comment about each picture for the world to see!
Coding all these things made me old and cranky, so please put them to use now!
What Would Sister Dana Do?
Don't you wish you had the rational judgment of everyone's favorite nun, Sister Dana? Well, now you can keep Dana's wisdom close to home with your very own What Would Sister Dana Do? shirt, mug, or hat! Check out this page at CafePress for the details, and please note that everything is being sold at cost... no profits are flowing anywhere!

What's Up With Hushville?
If you're looking for information about Hushville, I kept some of the planning pages intact and they'll be your best source of information until we get material put together for 2003.
MTV?
Yeah OK, so I'm the guy who unleashed that fake CNN story about MTV partnering with Burning Man. Did you fall for it? Boo hoo. Want to see it again?
Damn This Is Slow!
If you're on a slow connection then it's going to take you a while to get all the way through this site. Like last year, I sized all the images to 640x480, which puts each of them in the 90k to 105k range. I'm sorry if this produces a hassle for you, but the larger pictures really do look better. Besides, this site is best viewed from work.
